Mission Tasks

Ensures that all goods are delivered on site timely and properly transported so to avoid any phisical damage and delay versus project requirements

 

Professional Skills

1) Optimises transport plan by: - setting up depots as temporary stocking points for materials before sending on to worksite, also in respect of any contract-imposed use of flag carriers/conferences and location of their operative bases. - examines preferred land and sea routes for transport in terms of equipment and available facilities. 2) Provides support service to commercial and/or operations units on problems relating to transport/logistics. 3) Manages organisation of tenders in transport sector, choosing shippers and preparing vendor list of qualified shippers. 4) Follows up import, export, transit, despatch and transport custom papers. 5) Manages and co-ordinate shippers and/or despatchers, in case of Company-managed shipping, or interface directly with supplier during this phase. 6) Co-operates in management of transport insurance contracts with companies. 7) Co-ordinates customs and transport operations carried out by logistics officers of subsidiaries/Operating companies. 8) Attends to meeting with expediting in order to minimize the time between the delivery of the goods and the pick up by the forwarding agent. 9) Ensures that proper information is entered into the IT system at site receiving the goods.

Assures carrying out of necessary operations in respect of deadlines, transport and delivery of equipment and materials.

 

Professional Skills

1) Makes cost-advantages analysis relating to use of any subsidiary offices and agencies in the area, choice between commissions to despatching companies or single shippers, assignation of services to specialist agencies, the choice between ex-works despatch and inclusion of transport, etc. 2) Follows up import, export, transit, despatch and transport custom papers. 3) Manages and co-ordinates shippers and/or despatchers. 4) Co-operates in management of transport insurance contracts with companies. 5) Manages Project Information System relating to materials handling, routinely updating relative data. 6) Plans transport with Expediting & Inspection Officer. 7) Uses a computerized program named IBIS (SAP) for these activities
